Reverse Engineering
The Service
Many systems become obsolete, forgotten, so old that even the manufacturer barely remembers having built them. Unfortunately, much of the technology that seems readily available today could one day become rare or impossible to use. Just think of the old 8-inch floppy disks (have any of you ever actually seen one? Yet we assure you they existed and were common), or even the 5 1/4-inch ones. Perhaps on these old storage devices or within ancient systems, there are still important data. Years ago, we had to recover data from 12-inch laser disks containing documents that no one was able to read anymore. That experience gave us the idea that we could offer a reverse engineering and analysis service aimed at recovering lost data. In general, we can:
- Analyze systems using our logic probes to reconstruct electrical signals
- Use system debuggers to understand how to decode information
- Build electronic interfaces to replace old hardware and make it readable again with modern tools
